Operating as a separate structural unit, the Chair of Choreography commenced its activities on September 1, 2013. Prior to that, since 2000, the Department of Choreography Directing operated under the Chair of Solo Vocal Performance and Stage Movement, graduating choreography directors and choreographers in both full-time and part-time education programmes. Vilen Galstyan and Tereza Grigoryan, Honored Artists of the Armenian SSR, played crucial roles in the establishment of the Chair of Choreography. Over the years, the Chair of Choreography has collaborated with experts from the United Kingdom, the Republic of Poland, the Russian Federation, Canada and other countries, organising masterclasses in modern dance styles. Throughout their education, students have actively participated in local and international competitions and festivals.
