Born on December 16, 1958, in Yerevan.
Education
1976-1981: Directing Department, Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre.
1981-1984: Postgraduate studies at A. Lunacharsky State Institute of Theatre Arts, Moscow.
1986: Defended PhD dissertation "Main Trends in the Development of Contemporary Armenian Direction" in Moscow and received the degree of Candidate of Arts.
Professional Experience
Since 1985: Teaching "History of Russian Theatre" and "History of USSR Peoples' Theatre" at YSTFI.
1993-2003: Part-time teaching at the Faculty of Culture, Yerevan State Pedagogical University.
Since 1993: Leading theatre studies courses at YSTFI, teaching "Theatre Criticism Seminar".
Since 2007: Supervisor of master's theses.
1992: Received the title of Associate Professor; 2005: Professor.
2003: Elected Dean of the Faculty of Theatre and Cinema.
2012-2014: Served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts History, Theory and Management.
Since 2014: Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the university.
Scientific Work
Author of over 90 articles on theatre studies and educational methodology.
Author of the textbook "History of Russian Theatre: From Origins to the End of the 18th Century" (2003).
Author of the textbook "History of Russian Theatre: End of the 19th and Beginning of the 20th Century" (2010).
Presented scientific reports at national and international conferences, seminars, and symposiums in Armenia and abroad.
Professional Memberships
Since 1985: Member of the Union of Theatre Workers of Armenia.
2017-2020: Board member of the Traditional Gaming Arts Forum of UNESCO's International Theatre Institute (until 2020).
Since 2022: Board member of the International Organization of Theatre Leaders, Romania.
Awards
2003: Awarded with the Certificate of Appreciation from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
2014: Received the Movses Khorenatsi Medal.
